Inspiration

Every once in a while, we all have inhibited something about ourselves. We feel left out, unable to let our colors shine through our modest appearance. Not so often, we find someone whom we feel comfortable with and start bonding through our truest actions. That friendship becomes a treasure and a burden, double thinking everything so we don't break apart.

¡A la esquina! might not be a person, but surely it does feel it too. She won’t let her true colors shine unless you let them too. Go make a friend and light up each other's world.

Showing her true self

Behavior

She is a shy girl with a daring personality inside that shines when nobody’s around: she lives in a harmonious party of color that nobody knows about — yet.

Once you establish your presence, she inhibits and pretends to be a traditional lamp. As you tell her that it is safe to be cool with you, she might calm down and let a tiny bit of her light be seen around.

Although you may become friends, any change in your behavior induces panic and doubt in her. She might blush and try to hide away until you reinforce your bond with her. Then, she’ll shine again.

As colorful as anyone can get
A bit too crazy sometimes

Shape

You won’t find it in the middle of the room or hanging from the ceiling. Instead, she lies on the floor, collecting dust in the corner, trying to evade everyone's attention. She blends into the corner, hoping you won't even notice her presence.

¡A la esquina!, left out in a corner

Technical development

¡A la esquina! runs on an Arduino Nano, a microphone, an RGB LED strip, a 12V power source and a ULN2003AN. The microphone depends on a laptop connected to the Arduino through the serial port for testing purposes.
