Design and development of an iOS app that delivers kids a gamified learning experience on visually solving binomial multiplication through a set of wooden Cuisenaire rods. The system relies on the device’s front camera and a computer vision algorithm to identify the solution represented with the rods.

The project aims to develop an educational app/game for iOS that teaches basic algebra through the two-dimensional representation of multiplying binomials using tangible rods, that are recognized using a computer vision algorithm. Using tangible rods, the app’s purpose is to ease learning processes inside the classroom, through an interactive and intuitive learning activity, based on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, by Gardner, H., and Hatch, T.
